War of the Spirits: The Doctor vs. The Magician
War of the Spirits told the dramatic story of how two titans of the Victorian era—Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Harry Houdini—faced off to prove to the public whether Spiritualists could truly commune with the dead.

Introducing their friendship and sharing how it splintered, the exhibition asks visitors to reflect on what they might have believed at the time, and consider our modern-day interest in the occult.

Key characters in the story punctuated the exhibition, with Doyle and Houdini welcoming welcoming visitors at the entrance.

Visitors could try Spiritualist tactics on each other, like spirit rapping or ectoplasm, at interactive stations in the central gallery.
